Google Maps essentially uses two Graph algorithms — Dijkstra's algorithm and A* algorithm, to calculate the shortest distance from point A ( Source) to point B ( destination). A graph data structure is essentially a collection of nodes that are defined by edges and vertices.

Google scores the possible roads taking into account factors like real-time traffic conditions, the distance of the route, to find the quickest way. Finally, Google Maps will provide the shortest route and give some alternatives varying on distance or time taken.

On your computer, open Google Maps. Right-click the place or area on the map. This will open a pop-up window. You can find your latitude and longitude in decimal format at the top.
